Introduction to the Chemistry Department of Tianjin University We hope this introduction will give you a quick glance about our department. The Department of Chemistry goes up rapidly and has promoted to rank top 20 among all chemistry departments in China . The 20 professors, 22 associate professors, 19 lecturers and technicians, 32 Ph D students, 174 Master students and 230 undergraduates here are the feature we're most proud of. The scientific environment, the friendship between our faculties and students, and the facilities and instruments make the Department of Chemistry a terrific place to learn, teach, and perform research in the chemical sciences. We have active Ph D and Master programs in all sections including organic, physical, inorganic and polymer chemistry, and master programs in applied chemistry and chemical engineering. Our research are mainly focused on asymmetric synthesis, new organic synthesis methodologys, new photochemistry routes, metal organic complexes with diversity properties, reactions in super critical liquids, chemical absorptions, application and properties of natural polymers, catalysts on different utility, and solid nano-materials, ect. The text books of“Organic Chemistry”(4 ed), “Physical Chemistry” (4 ed), “Inorganic Chemistry” (3 ed) written by our department are the leading ones among all the technology universities in China . Our teaching jobs are mainly focused on general, inorganic, organic, analytical, physical chemistry and the related experimental courses as well as advanced graduate courses. Each year, more than 500 graduates and 6000 undergraduates in Tianjin University benefit from our excellent chemistry education.
